Superannuation Guarantee Rates

Rate from 1 July 2016 stays at 9.5%

The Superannuation Guarantee rate has scheduled increases, however there is no change from 1 July 2016 - see here for updated rate change schedule, as well as how to make any rate changes in your software.

Reporting Super on Payslips

Update: Deferred Twice - current status "in limbo", now has no expected commencement date.

The requirement to report additional superannuation contribution details on payslips has been deferred twice and is now not scheduled to commence. Originally the Government announced changes requiring employers to show the amount of super guarantee and the date they expect to pay the contribution on employees' payslips.

The ATO website is now silent on the issue so we contacted them for an update. We received a written reply from a Superannuation Technical Leader on 22 May 2014 which states as follows:

'The proposed payslip changes which were to give employees more information about their superannuation have not been regulated to commence at this stage. There are currently no changes that employers are required to make to the reporting of superannuation contributions. The Government is expected to make a further announcement to confirm any changes to reporting superannuation contributions on employee payslips and this would include an expected commencement date.'

So while no changes are required from 1 July 2014, more details including how to make such a change in your MYOB® software (if you want to) is available here
