There are a variety of issues that can cause the ‘side-by-side’ configuration error when trying to run our software. Our software was developed using Microsoft's Visual Studio and as such requires a certain "Redistributable Package" to be installed – either:
During the installation process, the setup program will try to detect if the relevant Redistributable is already installed. If it does not detect an installation (every operating system handles these packages differently), the setup will pause and allow the Redistributable Package to be installed. Some systems will send a pop-up to seek your permission, if you say no, it will not be installed - and so our software will not run. The most common cause of the side-by-side configuration error is where there is a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x86) installed, however it is an earlier version than what our software needs. So it's finding the files, however they are the wrong version. To resolve the side-by side configuration error, download and install the latest versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages from:
